ZAlebs Grace Maxhosa At New York Fashion Week

Laduma Ngxokolo Laduma Ngxokolo is the new wave of Mzansi creatives doing big things in the country and abroad. The fashion designer has a deep respect for his Xhosa culture and you can see it on his work, he is able to visually translate the Xhosa custom and language in world-class designs.

Laduma won numerous awards both locally and abroad, one of his first, the African Fashion Award for Emerging Designer of the Year in 2014. In 2016 he was also awarded as the Most Stylish Designer Interior or Fashion at the 2016 SA Style Awards.

He captioned his Instagram post…

He has been revered in Italy, where, in true MaXhosa style he repped Mzansi with his unique knitwear and textile designs. He has worked with some of the most famous celebrities in the world, including Beyoncé featured Laduma’s work by taking a snapshot of his creation during her visit at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum In New York City.

His most recent work in New York was at the New York City Fashion Week, where he collaborated with fellow South Africans like Riky Rick, Blue Mbombo, Warren Masemola and Amanda Dambuza.

The theme of his fashion line was “INGUMANGALISO IMISEBENZI KATHIXO (GODS WORK IS MIRACULOUS) #MaxhosaNYFW” as Tweeted by the veteran Mzansi actor, Warren Masemola.
