Laduma Is Calling!

South African fashion designers are seemingly waking up to the fact that stretching one’s artistry is imperative as it inspires a deep sense of innovation and brand growth.

One such designer is the one and only Laduma Ngxokolo, the founder of Maxhosa by Laduma.

The talented knitwear designer has joined forces with beadwork designer, Vukile Batyi to create iphone covers that costs a whopping R2,200. This is quite a hefty price for a mere phone cover but Laduma isn’t fazed at all hence he is known as being a quality over quantity snob.

Laduma’s bid to preserve the beauty of Xhosa culture has always been admirable and commendable hence creating iphone covers might strike a cord with  some of his deep pocketed cult followers. 

The formation of these phone covers serves as some kind of an inspiration especially from a business stand view because not many fashion designers have stretched their design brand to this level.

Because production methods are more expensive for smaller brands. Also, South Africans don’t support local brands. They up there prices to stay afloat too.

Risks are essential in the world of business as it ensures growth and innovation therefore this move from Laduma is an obvious risk and it is a given that most people would probably not afford his latest project from his iconic fashion brand. Some of his celebrity clients include, Maps Maponyane, Siyabonga Ngwekazi, Samthing Soweto, Black Coffee, even international music producer, Swizz Beats.
