For the past few days, the lyrics to one of the country’s most popular songs, “Thathi Sgubhu” by Bongo Maffin has been the subject of debate after media personality, Azola Mlota pointed out that we may have been singing the wrong thing all along.
In a tweet, Mlota stated, “the song by Bongo Maffin actually says “Thathi Sgubhu AS FAR AS YOU CAN.” Not “usfakezozweni”” and this had everybody up in arms, trying to figure out if this was true.
The debate got so heated that Thandiswa Mazwai and Stoan Seate had to weigh in on the drama.
