The hype around Maps Maponyane’s Burger eatery looks like it was not exaggerated at all and they truly are one of the best.
After all the restaurant is the only South African burger restaurant to make the international publication Bloomberg’s list of “The World’s Best Burgers.”
Rankings are based on the views of several Michelin-stars chefs and other culinary chefs, who handpicked the restaurants based on each of their preferences.
Buns Out is a burger restaurant that officially opened its doors last year, September in Linden, Johannesburg. The reviews have been top rated and attracted many people from all over the country. It introduced a pop-up restaurant in Durban however has since closed down.
Popular chef Lorna Maseko voted for the Burger joint to be included in the list. She spoke about her views on the burger to the publication and had this to say:
“This new joint in suburban Linden is the first of actor and TV celebrity Maps Maponyane. It has attracted a lot of media attention. There are about a dozen burgers, including vegetarian and vegan options. Quirky names include Is It Brie You’re Looking For?” she gushed.
