Uzalo is the biggest soapie in Mzansi with a viewership of 9,2 million, however, their finances haven’t caught up with the hype.
Following Uzalo’s financial trouble connected to the SABC, their financial woes have been linked to their failure in raising funds to financial institutions and their talents, and the production might come to a stop. When the news broke earlier last year, SABC spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago, had reportedly not been present for comment, however, it has been reported by Destiny Man that Kganyago had this to say: ”We had a meeting with the production house, but I cannot disclose to the public the outcomes.”
With the SABC having been in financial trouble, their last payment was allegedly in June last month and had the hopes of raising a R3 billion bailout from the National Treasury. The production house is still crossing fingers to keep the award-winning soapie on air.
