CONFIRMED: #SomHale Wedding To Premiere On Showmax

The news that everybody has been waiting to hear was finally confirmed on Thursday afternon it was announced that SomHale’s white wedding will be premiering on Showmax!

Larger than life superstar Somizi Mhlongo and his Fiancé Mohale Motaung will finally say “I Do” at their much anticipated white wedding today. The lovers got the country buzzing on Wednesday night after sharing a picture of their pridal party (yes, you read that correctly) – all wearing matching, luxury pyjamas. The big moment had finally arrived:
The opulent couple has been sparing no expense in order to throw the most extravagant wedding that South Africa has ever seen. The only problem was that most of us were going to feel pretty left out of their big occasion. To be honest, we had contented ourselves with the fact that we’d only be able to savour what little glimpses we’d get of their big day through social media, but little did we know what the Mohale-Motaungs had planned for us.

Now we can all witness Somizi and Mohale’s big day! 

Somizi took to social media this Thursday where he announced that the wedding of the year will be premiering exclusively on Showmax. The Idols judge announced the historic move, as he and Mohale became the first celebrity couple to have their four-part wedding special air exclusively on Showmax.

Episode 1 of Somizi & Mohale: The Union, South Africa’s first gay celebrity wedding special, will be coming first to Showmax from 24 February 2020, with additional episodes launching every Monday. The final episode, featuring today’s white wedding, premieres 16 March 2020.

And what better platform on which to tell their story? Showmax already has two of Mzansi’s biggest wedding special available for streaming right now. 2017’s Becoming Mrs Jones, which aired on 1Magic before arriving on Showmax is a three-part love story, told by husband and wife Quinton and Minnie Jones. In 2019, Dineo and Solo Langa tied the knot in front of friends and family, and they gave their fans a front-row seat to their special day through their mini-series, Kwakuhle Kwethu. And yes, the 3-part-special is also available for streaming on Showmax!

Somizi and Mohale have already set the tone for their white wedding after they hosted friends and family for a traditional ceremony in 2019. That wedding, which took place in Kiebler Park Johannesburg, turned out to be a breathtaking affair as the couple set the bar for hosting a magnificent traditional ceremony. The guest list on the day was star-studded and included the likes of Casper Nyovest and Bonang Matheba. 

If their traditional ceremony was anything to go by, then we’re even more excited for #SomhaleWhiteWedding which will be taking place today (Thursday 30 January). While all eyes will be on social media; the real wait will be for the upcoming Showmax special which will give us a closer-than-ever view into the couple’s wedding preparations.

What we know about Somizi and Mohale’s White Wedding so far:

The road to the aisle has been as a flamboyant and expensive journey. Somizi threw a jaw-dropping Groomsmen party for the groom-to-be while his hubby Mohale was treated by his friends who threw him a  surprise bachelor party that signified he is officially off the market.

Preparations for their big day have been as large scale as anybody would expect. Somizi has been giving us glimpses of all the finer things we can expect at their wedding. All in all, Somhale have certainly cemented themselves as one of Mzansi’s favourite couples and it feels like they have come a long way from the day they met back in 2017.

Their wedding venue is currently anybody’s guess. At one stage it was rumoured to be taking in place Bora Bora, while other sources hinted it could be much closer to home. In the end the latter whispers proved to be true as it was confirmed that their special ceremony will be taking place in Muldersdrift, Johannesburg.
