Miss South Africa officials have announced who will judge the prestigious 2019 pageant.
Actress and businesswoman
Connie Ferguson will help choose the country’s next beauty queen. But she is not the only famous woman on the panel, as reigning Miss Universe, Catriona Gray, will also sit at the judges’ table.
Some of this year’s diverse top 16 finalists include a woman who identifies as queer, a contestant with a unique birthmark on her face and two women who are considered plus-size in the modelling world.
Current Miss SA,
Tamaryn Green, says she excited to see Catriona on the panel.
“Looking forward to welcoming our Miss Universe @catriona_gray to South Africa & showing her the beauty of our country,” she wrote on Instagram.
Demi-Leigh and Miss SA 2015 Liesl Laurie joined Tamaryn at the unveiling of the pageant’s new crown on Monday.
The Miss SA pageant is taking place at the Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria on Friday, August 9.
South Africa’s media darling Bonang Matheba is hosting the pageant for the second year in a row, while Liesl will help host the Women’s Day ceremony.
