Monday morning right into the evening, social media users engaged in a debate surrounding Nomzamo Mbatha’s Cosmopolitan Activism Issue which was revealed yesterday.
Whilst many adored and applauded Nomzamo for her feature on Cosmopolitan’s first-ever activism issue, others, including the likes of Ntsiki Mazwai strongly felt that Nomzamo did not deserve to be referred to as an activist.
This then led to a lot of back and forth arguments on social media about what it really means to be an activist.
Whilst others threw shade at Nomzamo in disguise of this argument, the likes of Anele and many others also voiced their opinion about the topic and defended Nomzamo in the process.

Anele didn’t hold back and dismissed those who lambasted Nomzamo.

Criselda Kekana also came to Nomzamo’s defense and shared a long list of why she feels that Nomzamo is an activist in her eyes.

Here are some more notable tweets that defended Nomamo’s role as an activist.
So you guys could stomach Drake’s “God’s Plan” video where the whole concept was him being filmed doing charity work and blessing others but all of a sudden Nomzamo is a problem?? ……. oh no you people are crazy pic.twitter.com/EDxhI407ni

The same Nomzamo who shone a light on depression and suicide not just on her graduation day but years ahead of that but you want to deny her works

The hate on Nomzamo today is beyond disgusting. I will address it as HATE because that’s exactly what it is. It’s one thing to discuss a cause & hold a different opinion. Assassinating one’s character, dragging their hard work & accomplishments, is another form of witchcraft.

Isn’t Nomzamo the same girl who paid for hundreds of youths to attend an empowerement summit? Is this not the same woman who spoke out about mental health at her graduation???
So now it’s only classified as activism if loudmouths and often rude twittercats command the space?

But the best response was from Nomzamo herself.
