The wedding was attended by the heavyweights of the South African entertainment industry. The first episode of their wedding special gave us a front-row seat into their wedding jitters, preparations for their big day and all the traditional rituals and ceremonies that involved their coming together.

2. No one is a Virgin.
It would not have been a complete episode without Somizi’s hilarious and spicy remarks. While they were waiting to be welcomed at the Motaung’s family home in Kibler Park, Somizi said his patience was running out because he couldn’t understand why they did not open their gates quickly. Normally in the African tradition when families host a ceremony to exchange gifts or go to the brides home to build a new relationship they have to wait outside the gates and say their clan names before they are let in. This may drag on for too long if they don’t impress the family inside or don’t cough out the required amount of money demanded to be let in. Somizi joked that he would have understood if someone one was a virgin between him and Mohale – but said they have bonked more than sixty times Lol!!.
We learned that Somizi has an older brother who represented him from his father’s side – his name is Mazwe Mhlongo. Somizi revealed that his brother was also on Sarafina with him. Mazwe is currently part of the Grammy-Award winning Soweto Gospel Choir and he won the hearts of Mzansi when he recited his clan praises during their gift exchange ceremony.
What made it all the better was definitely the decor and that amazing cake. The cake had 10 tiers and it looked sickening!! Somizi’s friends even said he went all out to pull up a wedding of a decade. The extravagant cake with 10 layers stole the show.5. No bride.
Somizi has always set the records straight that they both share roles so there is no husband and wife in their relationship – they are both equal. During the gifts exchange ceremony, one person started the traditional wedding song Makoti Ke Di Nako Somizi hilariously said ‘There is no bride’.6. Prayer and Traditional rituals were very important.
Somizi has a very strong connection with his ancestors, and before he headed to his wedding he went straight to his shrine and connected with his ancestors. He asked them to bless their union and to accept Mohale.
7. The Pastor who united them was content with everything.
Mohale’s uncle was the pastor. He delivered a moving speech that touched everyone when he blessed their union and spoke fondly about how proud he is about their coming together.
8. The dance floor was lit!!.
The wedding was definitely entertaining and everyone had a blast. We saw guests rocking the dance floor like nobody’s business. The performances set the bar high and it was beautiful to see guests excited and vibing to every single song.
9. The traditional wedding speeches were very inspirational and touching.
Somizi’s daughter Bahumi took to the podium and spoke about how excited she was that her dad has found someone who makes him happy in life. Bahumi wished them all the best and we also saw Mohale’s sister taking to the podium. In her speech, she said she was finally excited to see the pair getting hitched and whilst she did not condone their relationship at first, she is fine with it because her brother is happy.10. Somizi’s Mom has their back.
Somizi’s mom said she has prayed for their union and that the ancestors are watching over them and they are forever blessed.
