“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of former #eNCA and #eTV sports anchor Sandile ka Nqose. A die-hard sports fan and a man who had a love for broadcasting. He passed away today at the age of 42,” shared eNCA.
Circumstances surrounding his passing are still sketchy but many have praised him for his impeccable talent and devotion to sports.
“This is devastating. A passionate and enthusiastic broadcaster is no more. Our on-air banter was always filled with fun and laughter. I cannot imagine the pain and heartache that his family is going through. Vata Ngobeni, strength to your team as well. Rest In Peace Sandile,” wrote Newzroom’s anchor Xoli Mngambi.
In a statement, Sport, Arts, and Culture Minister, Nathi Mthethwa, paid tribute to the 42-year-old and said he will be remembered for his good soul.
“He was a young man, whose colleagues describe as a consummate gentleman – always helpful, jovial and humorous.”He will be remembered as a good soul, who was radiant and full of life, who delivered sports bulletins with the utmost professionalism,” said the Minister.
Khumalo was a celebrated singer who was bestowed with the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver, for her contribution to arts and culture in the musical fields of jazz and opera and made a significant impact on South Africa and the world through her passion for music.
Messages of condolences have been pouring in and actress and singer, Mara Louw also expressed how shook she was after learning about her passing, “I thought why is this happening? I was just shocked. It is difficult when you hear such news. Even words of condolences don’t seem to have meaning anymore. It is just a shock. Whenever you hear the phone ring, you fear the worst.”
The singer will be laid to rest this Saturday.
