[Watch] First Look At Wiseman Mncube As Mqhele

Following news that Wiseman Mncube has joined Showmax’s hit telenovela The Wife, the online streaming platform has dropped the first look of Wiseman as Mqhele Zulu and we are here for it.

The teaser has caused quite abuzz and excitement on social media ahead of his much-anticipated debut. In the clip, Wiseman can be seen entering a yellow taxi dressed in white All-Stars and tracksuits. He is then seen sitting comfortably while starting the taxi.  He winks at the camera and drives away.

Mncube recently thanked his fans following an announcement that he is joining the show.

“Ngicela ukuthatha lelithuba ngibonge ukwamukeleka nokwethembeka emva kokuphuma izindaba zokuthi sengizoba yinxenye yomdlalo iThe Wife lakhona ngizobe ngithatha izintambo umfoka Khoza “Bonko” azishiye khona ngoMqhele. Ngyabonga kakhulu uThando engilitholayo, akwandele bani…ngizokwenza ngakho konke ukuthi nginganijabhisi. Uthandolunye,” he wrote on Instagram.

This translates to: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the people who have welcomed me after the announcement that I will be joining The Wife, where I will be taking over from Bonko Khoza where he left off, who played the role Mqhele. Thank you very much for the love and support that I have received…I’ll do my best o entertain you guys, One love.”

In a sattement, Mncube said “Mqhele is a very interesting role and I’m in my element: there’s a lot to chew on and play off, from the love story to the anger to the care. uBonko carried the role with so much respect and power. I’m not here to replace Bonko but to start my own journey as Mqhele and take things from where he left off and run with it in my own way.”

“Wiseman is a versatile performer with multiple accolades; Mqhele and his madness are in safe hands,” said sseries producer Kamogelo Aphane. “Wiseman’s work ethic and command of Zulu will take Mqhele to new heights this season.”

Filming has started on the third and final season of Showmax Original The Wife, launching on the African streaming service in November 2022.
