Gender based violence and femicide has been a hot topic in the country and Somizi has decided to lend his voice in fighting for the cause.

Of late celebrities have taken to social media to express their anger towards the growing number of women who suffer at the hands of men.
“A woman in South Africa is safer in the Kruger amongst lions and snakes than at home or in the streets,” wrote Somizi.
The likes of Cassper Nyovest and Zozibini Tunzi have written scathing messages to President Ramaphosa regarding these killings, saying “The women and children in our communities are perishing at the hands of men!!!” asking when will change be implemented. “All we hear is “we need to do better” but nothing is ever done. It is not getting better !!! When will this doing better begin?” wrote Cass.
