Taking to Instagram, Somizi Mhlongo shared that he just got booked for his first gig as a private chef and the food looks appetizing. Describing himself as the Rich Mnisi of the kitchen, Somizi wants it to be known that he does not come cheap so your bank account has to have a few zeros at the end.
“My first private chef gig…I’m loving this journey. Book me but you must be pocketically fit. I’m the Rich Mnisi of the kitchen,” he boasted.
Somizi then shared another post where he declares he is living his dreams and that he is thankful for the gifts and talents he was blessed with. The man is truly blessed, “I’m so happy right now, fulfilled, living my dream, my purpose. This is more than just food. It’s about making new friendships, leaving a positive footprint in your clients’ hearts. I cook with my heart. I love being around people, I love my gifts. Private chef man” he wrote.
Followers are once again convinced that “bakhaphe uSomizi emhlabeni,” which loosely translates to, this is Somizi’s world, we are just living in it.
Somizi has been taking his self-taught culinary skills to restaurants around Pretoria for an entire month where he cooks hearty Sunday meals for large crowds. He called it the ‘African Cuisine Buffet’ and judging by his fan’s responses, it was a hit!
He also hit it off in the kitchen with minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane for the ministerial cookoff which was said to revive South Africa’s tourism industry by attracting people to the area. Also it is part of the upcoming budget vote 2021.
It looked like it was a huge success but Mzansi was highly unimpressed.
The cookoff was hosted at Shimza’s restaurant, ‘The Hang Awt’ which is in Tembisa. This made many question how did Shimza get the tender to host the event and did he even apply. Also many wondered how the department got to pay someone like Somizi when the tourism industry was supposedly hit very hard because of the pandemic.

The minister told Speaking on Power 98.7, the minister said Somgaga did not charge them a cent for doing the event but they had booked the restaurant. So it was only Shimza who got paid.
