The minister has come under fire on social media following his recent interview on SABC News, where he said he is not sure about the human trafficking cases whether they are about publicity, saying that since the lockdown started the number of human trafficking cases have declined.
Rami is not the first SA celeb celeb to call him out. Celebrities like L’vovo have also said that when it come to alcohol-related topics, the minister is vocal but when it comes to GBV he is mum.
Babalwa Mneno who has been accused of allegedly being part of a sex trafficking ring, has had to address the allegations recently. A few years back the businesswoman trended with many accusing her of being a pimp.
Babalwa recently took to Twitter to set the records straight in a statement that she is not involved in human trafficking incidents.
“ I note with dismay the accusations mounting that I am involved in the human trafficking scheme on social media. I have never been involved in human trafficking. I am a legit businesswoman. However, social media bullying has caused reputational damage, violence and emotional distress.”
“I wish to indicate that an investigation to understand the provenance of the accusations, as well people who continue to vigorously peddle them, is underway. I have been advised by my lawyers legal action will be taken as soon as this issue has crystallized.”

Seasoned broadcaster Pearl Shongwe recently penned a thread on Twitter detailing how her nephew was almost kidnapped.
She says a man walked passed his nephew and dropped a roll of cash and when her nephew called him to tell him that he dropped his money and said he should pick it up and he did.
“He gave him the money and suddenly the man pulled a knife on him and searched his pockets. My nephew had his phone on him. They had an exchange because my nephew wanted his phone back. 3 other men showed up in.“
She said a Toyota Tazz drove in and the man said they are leaving with him, but luckily enough a man who works at a nearby shop noticed the incident, and called police and other members of the public came.
