It is a satisfying sight to see Mzansi music reaching all corners of the world. Just recently in celebration for International Women’s Day actress Viola Davis paid homage to a fast growing genre Amapiano and posted a Tik Tok video of a cute baby girl blowing a whistle, in unison with the song.

An artist who made a name for himself in that genre, Focalistic also had his fair share of the limelight when rapper P Diddy danced to his hit song, Ke Star. The remix of the track featuring Nigerian superstar Davido, recently made it to the Billboard 100 global chart. He is currently number 16 on the charts.

Last year Focalistic revealed that he used to be very depressed before he shot to fame. When he decided to pursue music many did not like his sound but he stuck to his guns. This is what he said on Afternoon Express:
“Before anything, it’s always been about the love of the city. That’s why I do it and that’s why I started in the first place rapping in spitori. For me, it’s exciting to see people react the way they’ve been reacting and it’s all love.” Said the rising star.
