AKA Lemons Music Video Surpasses 1M Views

When it comes to Hip-Hop, AKA has cemented his influence within the industry. The platinum selling artist reminds us why he is dubbed the ‘Supa Mega’ has the music video for his latest single featuring Nasty C, ‘Lemons (Lemonade)’ has surpassed 1 million views and counting.

Kiernan Jordan Forbes, commonly known as AKA hails from Mitchell’s Plain in Cape Town. Now based in Johannesburg, the rapper first rose to fame after releasing his single ‘Victory Lap’ from his début EP titled ‘Alter Ego’ back in 2011. Since then, he has accumulated a string of certified singles including ‘all eyes on me’ ft Burna Boy and accolades like being nominated ‘Best Hip-Hop artist at the MTV Africa music awards 2014’. All while embracing a luxurious soft life, which he tends to share across his social media platforms. Today, his recent collaboration with Nasty C ‘Lemons’ adds to his successful body of music and achievements.

‘Lemons’ is the lead single off AKA’s upcoming album titled ‘Mass country’. The music video debuted on the same day as the single (16 September) and is directed by Nate Thomas. It instantly became a smash hit as it accumulated 1 million views not long after its release. The music video starts with a skit featuring Nadia Nakai, and Robot Boii which glorifies, the past youth programme, Jika Ma Jika.

The performance itself includes the standard AKA elements and the refreshing, clear and natural flow of Nasty C’s vocals in his verse. To top off the pair’s performance and release, Nasty C shared the same release day as he dropped a killer 10 track mixtape titled ‘Ivyson Army Tour Mixtape’.

In celebration of these two successful releases, Nasty C often referred to as the ‘millionaire Zulu Man’ took to Instagram and captioned the post as ‘Good week, let’s eat’.

The new single is a taste of what to expect when AKA releases his upcoming album. Adding to the tease, earlier this year, the rapper released snippets from two songs on the new project. The first snippet comes from a song titled ‘Prada’ and the second snippet from another song titled ‘new best army’.
