
This follows after numerous celebs including the like of Mohale Motaung, Penny Lebyane, Khaya Mthethwa, Somizi and Pearl Modiadie, were hired on the Free Stem Lockdown Digital School, a digital learning platform, aimed at assisting pupils with their studies during the lockdown period.
Professional teachers took to Twitter, to weigh in their opinions and slammed the Department of Education, for hiring celebs instead of them.
The #CelebritiesAreNotTeachers, has been flooded with tweets from teachers and ordinary South Africans who are rallying behind them. Tweeps felt like, there was no need for celebrities to be hired because they do not have any relevant teaching qualifications.
Some said the pass rate has been very low, and the government is busy hiring celebs who do not have any teaching experience.
