Oh no! Here’s something we didn’t see coming. Zahara has reportedly been dumped by her boyfriend, Umhlobo Wenene DJ Amaza Ntshanga.
According to Sunday Sun, the singer is upset because the radio presenter isn’t taking her career seriously. Another reason for the alleged split is said to be the distance between the couple.
A source told the paper: “Zahara lives in Jozi and Amaza stays in Cape Town. For them to see each other is a serious mission. Amaza complained that Zahara makes no effort to visit Cape Town and see him.”
Amaza’s Umhlobo Wenene colleague added: “He used to go up to Jozi to be with her. He also begged the station bosses to give him a transfer to Jozi – but that didn’t work.”
Sunday Sun reported that Amaza wanted to move to Johanneburg because he wanted to get Zahara away from the bottle.
A music industry source told the paper: “When was the last time you heard that Zahara would perform in the country? Even TS Records bosses are tired of bringing her to order as she is a difficult person. She is also frustrated because her new album seems to be a flop.”
The source added: “Zahara is no longer an innocent girl, she has changed completely.” When called for comment, Amaza told Sunday Sun: “Last week at the MTN Radio Awards my show Sijiki Langa won an award for the second time. So why don’t those people talk about that instead of gossiping?”
The Loliwe singer’s manager Zakes Makaba said: “I’ll try to get hold of her – but right now her phone is still off.”
