Fans were left disappointed after Vuyo Dabula, who plays Gadaffi on Generations: The legacy confirmed that he would be leaving the show. He told Daily Sun, “It is what it is” when asked to confirm the news.
The producers had given him an ultimatum and asked him to chose between the soapie and Queen Sono. He, of course chose Queen Sono, but a thunderbolt had been dropped on him when he was informed that the Netflix series would no longer continue.
Now, his tone has changed to a very shocking “I am not leaving the show,” when he was asked to confirm the recent rumours. An unnamed source however has told Daily Sun that producers of the show could not care less about Vuyo’s sudden change of mind, saying they battled to come up with ‘an exit story’ in a very short space of time.
The source told the publication that producers are adamant on kicking him off the show as planned and as per his previous request.
In a statement sent to ZAlebs, a Netflix spokesperson confirmed that they have decided to not continue with the second season.
The director of the series says they had written a great storyline but it was difficult to bring it to life. “We wrote a beautiful story that spanned the continent but unfortunately could not be executed in these current trying times,” said Kagiso Lediga, Director (Diprente).
