Trevor Gumbi Goes Off On Club Where Pupil Died
Trevor Gumbi normally makes headlines for being funny – he is a comedian after all. But this time, the pain hit too close to home, and he went off on a club where a pupil died recently, blaming them for negligence that led to his death.

The comedian recently took to Instagram to give his take on the fatal stabbing of a 17 year old pupil of King Edward VII School, on Saturday night. The incident happened outside the Madison Avenue nightclub in Rivonia, Johannesburg.
As News 24 reports, the paramedics arrived to find the teenager on the street, and he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. The club’s security, along with the SA Police Service, are reported to be undergoing further investigations before further information is provided on the incident.
As the report reads, the club gave a statement on its official Facebook page, saying a suspect had been apprehended. The club also said that the incident happened “a fair distance from the venue”, and although their security tried to help the young boy, they could not save him. The statement has since been taken down, and according to the club, it was done to honour the requests of the pupil, Hlompho’s family.

Trevor Gumbi, however, had a screenshot of the statement, and has posted it on his Instagram, calling it a bunch of lies, filth and trash.

He has accused the venue of admitting underage students into the venue, knowing very well they should not be in a club. He says his own 16-year old son has entered the club without a hassle, so the club clearly turns a blind eye to their inappropriate age just so they can maximise their profits for the night.

He has further accused the club security of standing by and watching while Hlompho got murdered, only to pretend to assist after the fact. He said that all the club cared about was getting his money by allowing him into the establishment, but when he needed them to save his life, they couldn’t care less.

Gumbi is not the only one to level such accusations against the establishment. Although they have since taken down the initial statement from their Facebook page, the comments section of their prior posts are filled with other members of the public calling for the club to be investigated for knowingly admitting children.

Further information is not available at this time, as this is a developing story, and investigations are currently underway.
