Media personality Somizi Mhlongo and his estranged husband Mohale Motaung, have topped the Twitter trends list following Somizi’s catfight with his fellow Idols SA judge Thembi Seete.

Somizi and Thembi left tongues wagging after a teaser of Idols SA’s next episode fighting on national TV. While the two were busy exchanging words, JR was minding his own business. The heated argument sparked mixed reactions online and while many are wondering if it was staged or not, many Twitter users accuse Somizi of being a bully, while others say they believe Mohale.

Somizi and Mohale are currently embroiled in a messy divorce drama. In 2021, Mohale accused Somizi of being physically abusive. A recording exclusively revealed by Sunday World revealed accusations of jealousy, orgy, and open marriage made by Mohale.

The actor claimed that during one of their domestic violence tiffs, Somizi allegedly pulled out a knife and almost stabbed them both. “I took my keys and walked out, he took a knife. I was about to exit, so he said to me, ‘if you exit… I’m going to kill us both.’ So I took my keys and ran. He grabbed the knife and said ‘if you walk out, I’m going to stab you.’ Now I see a different person. I was sh*t scared and walked back into the house. He said ‘let’s talk.’ He cried and we moved on,” he told the publication.

Somizi released a statement denying the claims : Our relationship has its ups and downs but I have NEVER been physically or knowingly emotionally abusive towards my estranged husband. I vehemently deny the allegations of criminal acts towards him and would like to clear my name of that defamation.

Mohale Motaung, is set to spill more beans in his highly anticipated Showmax Original Mohale: On the Record about the alleged abuse he suffered at the hands of Somnizi 

In the trailer Mohale recounted how he was happy until Somizi began to control him and remind him that he was beneath him: “I was really myself when I was with him and I could express myself in many ways… I was happy until certain things started to happen… Like the control and constantly being reminded that I bring nothing to the table except my pretty face.”

He also spoke about the alleged domestic abuse “I remember him saying that he needs to mess up my face,” Mohale told Aldrin Sampear.
