It all started when a tweep, a 2000 we guess, took to Twitter to show her appreciation for Queen Bey following watch “Black is King.”

The tweep created a thread about why Africans should refer to Beyoncé as Mama Africa. Which had many telling the tweep that maybe not…

The history of the term is that it was given to legendary musician, activist and philanthropist, Miriam Makeba.

While we can all agree that “Black is King” deserves its flowers, tweeps were quick to assert that there will only be one Miriam Makeba, including Simphiwe Dana.
