Hungani became a household name on the show with a legion of fans. When the rumor mill had it that he might be exiting the hit soapie, many were hoping that it wasn’t true. However, as many watched in total disbelief, it became clear, that the journey of more than 4 years, of all things pertaining to Romeo, has definitely come to a draw.
Avid watches of the show were left shooketh to the core on Monday evening when Romeo’s life was cut short by a hitman paid by his mother in law. Viewers took to Twitter to express their disappointments and some even threatened to boycott the show. Many claimed they will never watch again if they do not bring back Romeo.

When Hungani was first introduced in the character of Romeo Medupe, he was a troubled, intellectually gifted heir to the Newtonian; the flagship hotel of the soapie. However, in his tenure, he became a father, a husband, and a beloved character for the extent he will go to ensure that his family is taken care of.
The actor was recently rumored to have been fired from the show. This follows an article published by Sunday World, claiming that he was axed because of being difficult to work with.
The show issued a statement setting the record straight. “There’s a published article circulating around that Hungani is leaving the show. As Scandal!, we’re disputing every allegation stated in the article. Hungani has not been fired by production,” shared in a statement
The show said they are happy with his work ethic. “We’re happy with his excellent professionalism and work ethic.”
In a post on Instagram recently the actor said. “Four years ago on March 29, my girlfriend, family, and friends were anticipating my TV debut on e.tv’s Scandal! All glory to God. Grateful to still be on the show and have the audience still so excited and receptive towards my character.”
We wonder what will be his next move, especially after it was reported that the producer of Black-ish is eyeing him.
