Gail On Why She Cut Her Hair

A couple of weeks ago, Gail Mabalane shocked many of her fans when she was seen rocking a chiskop, although the actress looks amazing, many people did not expect to see her chop off her famous pixie.

The media personality recently took to her Instagram to reveal the real reason behind her new look. In a lengthy post, the star revealed that she was diagnosed with Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia.

“A few months ago I went to the salon for a routine hair wash. To my shock, after my wash, a big chunk of my hair was GONE!!! 😳 After a few weeks of “self medicating”, I decided to consult a dermatologist. CCCA – Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia was the diagnosis. Simply put … a very common cause of Alopecia or hair loss in black women,” she wrote in part. Take a look at the post below:

Props to Gail for being brave enough to open up about her condition. The star who has been in the spotlight for close to 10-years started her career as a contestant on South African Idols and since then, she has become one of South Africa’s most sought-after actresses with an impressive acting resume.
