Calvin Broadus Jnr - better known as Snoop Lion AKA Snoop Dogg arrived at the King Shaka International Airport last night to a crowd of enthusiastic fans waiting to welcome him on African soil.
Sporting a red t-shirt, shades and a rather long jersey Snoop Lion assured his fans that he’d be performing his classic hits this weekend at the MTV Africa All Stars concert this.
Snoop: “Expect dope music, classic hits. New Snoop Lion, old Snoop Dogg – high energy and hit music from top to bottom. I don’t come over here that often so, when I do I want to make sure that I leave a lasting impression on the fans and crowd.”
Snoop had informed The Times that fried chicken is a “tour staple” wherever he may be as well as a PlayStation 3 console. Apparently he has asked for lots of KFC even though his skinny physique says otherwise.
Snoop Lion has recently released his latest documentary titled “Reincarnated” which shows us the transformation of Snoop from a gangster rapper to a more conscious rapper who recites lyrics of love, peace and encouragement to the world.
Some quotes from Snoop Lion in the documentary are:
“I was at the forefront of the most violent time in hip-hop, with the most violent record label in the world, and I didn’t want that any more. I wanted peace, love and everybody to live and nobody understood that until people started dying.”
“They want me to rap, but I don’t want all that. That ain’t with no distrespect, but I’m tired of rap. I’ve been on the top ever since I’ve been in it. I got rap songs that will never die. So what else could I do in the rap world that’s appealing like that?”
Following overwhelming popular demand, MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) has released an additional 1,500 tickets for its sell-out urban music concert, MTV Africa All Stars KwaZulu-Natal with Snoop Lion. Tickets for the concert are now on sale again at Computicket after the concert sold out on Wednesday.
